Carrick Concerts Presents - The Anern Trio playing Beethoven

‘A vibrant and versatile string trio, combining young energy and enthusiasm with the wisdom of experience' - May 27 2023, 7pm, Tremayne Hall, Mylor Bridge

May 6, 2023 -- For immediate release

It is with a great sense of anticipation and excitement that Carrick Concerts welcomes the return visit of the Anern Trio to Cornwall, where they last performed to a capacity audience in 2016. The Trio was formed just two years earlier in 2014 when Nigel Blomiley, former Principal Cellist of both the BBC Philharmonic and Concert Orchestras, brought together two gifted young people with himself to form the Anern Trio. They will be playing music from Beethoven's string trios.

The Anern’s talented Japanese violinist, Lisa Ueda, has won huge awards all over the world, including the prized ‘Uprising Young Artist’ of Japan award in 2006. She works regularly in Europe and Asia as a solo violinist and recitalist. Recent performance venues include St John's Smith Square, St Martin-in-the-Fields, St James's Piccadilly, St George's Bristol, Teatro Verde Italy, Symphony Hall Japan, Izumi Hall Japan, and Festival Hall Japan. She has premiered a work written specially for her at the Barbican in London.

Now married to Lisa, Ian Byrne-Brito (viola), hails from Santa Cruz in Tenerife. Having graduated as a performer and teacher from The Hague Royal Conservatory he went on to complete a master’s degree at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Subsequently, Ian has developed a successful international performing career as a chamber violist, making appearances in Europe and Asia's most distinguished concert halls and festivals, including Barbican Centre in London, Beijing's National Centre for the Arts and Suntory Hall Tokyo among others.

Nigel Blomiley (’cello), is one of the most distinguished principal ‘cellists in the country. Formerly Principal ‘Cellist of the BBC Concert Orchestra and Coach of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales. Nigel has a strong commitment to teaching having served long periods as 'cello tutor at Chethams School of Music in Manchester, and the Purcell School. Nigel has worked with many distinguished musicians including Sir Charles Mackerras, Sir Peter Maxwell-Davies, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Yehudi Menuhin and Cliff Richard to name but a few.

Today, this remarkable string trio is regarded as one of the country’s leading ensembles, performing a highly regarded classical repertoire as well as showcasing works by contemporary composers written especially for them.

‘The Anern Trio is an outstanding chamber ensemble’ (Musical Opinion)
