Carrick Concerts is delighted to welcome the Fibonacci Quartet to Tremayne Hall on April 20. The quartet was founded in September 2019 and consists of former students of David Takeno (International Chair of Violin Eugène Ysaÿe), Louise Hopkins and Matthew Jones at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, UK. It is an international ensemble, bringing together Czech, Belgian, Welsh and Scottish nationalities.
In addition to their course in London, they were offered a full scholarship to study with Guenter Pichler (Primarius of the Alban Berg Quartet) at the Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia in Madrid, Spain commencing in 2022.
Most recently, they were awarded first prize at the Royal Overseas League International Chamber Music Competition, as well as the CAVATINA Chamber Music Competition which took place in Wigmore Hall. In March of 2022 they won the audience prize at the International Chamber Music Festival in Schiermonnikoog. In December of 2021 they won the the First Prize at the “Triomphe de l’Art” International Chamber Music Competition in Brussels, as well as the “Peermusic, Hambourg” special prize and the “International Association Dimitri Chostakovich, Paris” special prize. In March 2020 they won both First Prize and audience prize at the international Beethoven Competition in London, as well as the 1st prize at the Saint James Chamber Music competition.
The have broadcast on Dutch Television as well as on the BBC and in May 2023 they were invited to perform Kaija Saariaho’s “Terra Memoria” for string quartet for the Barbican and BBC “Total Immersion” series, in collaboration with the composer.
The Fibonacci Quartet is supported by the Talent Unlimited foundation (London), Hattori Foundation (UK) and has been invited to be a part of the “ProQuartet” organisation (Paris) as well as the “le Dimore del Quartetto” organisation (Italy, worldwide).
They regularly perform internationally, both in Europe and elsewhere.
