Experience the works of Beethoven as played by two masters of the classical repertoire on piano and 'cello
February 11, 2024 -- For immediate release
Beethoven at Tremayne Hall
After the stunning performance of Geirþrúður Anna Guðmundsdóttir and Antoine Préat in early February, Carrick Concerts is to welcome another cello/piano duo. This time, the programme will focus entirely on the work of Beethoven played by two masters of the classical repertoire.
Nigel Blomiley (’cello), is a member of our Advisory Board and has supported Carrick Concerts since its inception in 2017. He is well-known as one of the most distinguished principal ‘cellists in the country. Formerly Principal ‘Cellist of the BBC Concert Orchestra and Coach of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales. Nigel has a strong commitment to teaching having served long periods as 'cello tutor at Chethams School of Music in Manchester, and the Purcell School.
'Extraordinary originality, superb simplicity, and fingers of steel hidden behind muscles of velvet. Viv MacLean (piano) is an otherworldly young man - he plays with the genius one finds in those who know how to forget themselves, naturally placing themselves at the right point to meet the music, this mystery of the moment' (Le Monde, Paris).
Come and join us at Tremayne Hall on March 9 at 7.30 for another evening of wonderful music by two masters of their art.
