Theorbist and lutist Fred Jacobs of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam hosts a unique musical workshop and a performance of 17th Century theorbo music
February 22, 2022 -- For immediate release
Carrick Concerts presents The Delights of the Theorbo, a musical workshop and concert starring acclaimed classical musician Fred Jacobs, at Flushing Sailing Club on Saturday 12 March.
The workshop, hosted by Jacobs, begins at 3:00pm, and attendees are invited to bring their own instruments - particularly guitars and lutes. The workshop is a rare chance to learn from a master musician and experienced tutor who has taught master classes at conservatories in Rotterdam, Arnhem and Amsterdam.
The concert, Carrick Concerts’ first of the 2022 season, starts at 7:30pm and will feature a range of 17th century works from composers such as Giovanni Girolamo Kapsperger, Charles Hurel, Estienne le Moine and Robert de Visée.
Ticketholders can attend both events, however attendees to the workshop should specify their attendance beforehand. Tickets are £13 per adult, and under-18s go free.
Tickets are available for purchase via the Carrick Concerts website, by phone on 01326 374237, or from the village stores in Mylor and Flushing.
The Carrick Concerts events are being held in collaboration with the Roseland Music Society, which will be hosting a separate performance starring Jacobs at Gerrans Parish Memorial Hall in Portscatho on Friday 11 March.
