Carrick Concerts presents - Cornwall Consort of Brass

Some of Cornwall's finest brass musicians come together to entertain us with music from Gabrielli to Gershwin.

April 20, 2023 -- For immediate release

Cornwall is fortunate that its love of brass bands has attracted some of the country’s most distinguished brass players who come here both to teach and perform. Occasionally, they come together under the auspices of the Cornwall Music Service Trust (CMST) to perform as the Cornwall Consort of Brass under the direction of Gareth Churcher, himself a trombonist and composer of note.

Among other works to be performed will be:

Fest Musik De Stadt Wien - Richard Strauss

Mr Jums - Chris Hazel

Pictures at an Exhibition - Mussorgsky

Malaguena - Ernesto Lecuona

Pastime With Good Company – attrib. Henry VIII arr. Bannister

Carrick Concerts is fortunate that its ongoing partnership with the CMST has enabled it to present this wonderful group of players in a programme of music ranging from Gabrieli to Gershwin. This is a rare opportunity to bring this music to our community, and I urge you to make every effort to come and support these lovely and very gifted Cornish musicians. Half the proceeds of concert will be donated to support the work of the CMST in providing instrumental and voice tuition at schools throughout the County which no longer is funded by the Education Budget of Cornwall Council.

Tremayne Hall, Mylor Bridge, TR11 5NA at 7:30pm on Saturday 27 April.

Tickets are available for purchase via the Carrick Concerts website, by phone on 01326 374237, or from the village stores in Mylor and Flushing.
